Members of the U. S. military have streamlined these words into the simple phrase of "I got your six." The word six refers to the six o'clock position, or back rear position, in a military position.

The 'Got Your 6' campaign is based on these words of mutual guardianship. The GotYour6.org was inspired by the First Lady, Michelle Obama, to help generate support for U. S. veterens and military families.

The term six has a double meaning in reference to the six areas of the campaign's focus: jobs, education, health, housing, family and leadership.
